Policy Expert Discusses Impacts of Digital Discourse

By Kevin Karami |

On the latest episode of Policy Chats, President and co-founder of Legis Lorna Seitz discusses the evolution and impacts of digitalized discourse.

“You might have [legislators] come up with [a] policy, and then if you look at the law, it says something totally different; there's a radical disconnect,” said Seitz, an expert in legislative analysis and whose work in Legis involves communications research. “So it really will shift the paradigm of a large number of people when they both have access to relevant information and also have the ability to discuss it with people.”

The episode with Seitz also covers other topics including the role of social media and its impacts, the importance of evidence and logic-based policymaking, and the significance of healthy discourse. Listen to the episode here.
