School Aids Homeless Through Day of Service

By Divya Bharadwaj |

On Saturday March 16, from 10:30 am to 1:00pm, the UCR School of Public Policy is hosting a care packages assembly line for the homeless as part of UCR Highlander Day of Service. Until March 14, the SPP will hold a donation drive, after which volunteers will assemble care packages for Path of Life Ministries.

Items accepted for donation include essentials such as:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Clothing
  • Toiletries
  • Feminine hygiene products

Donation boxes will be set up in INTS 4120 and 4133.

According to the UCR Alumni Association, Highlander Day celebrates UCR’s promise in being a leader of community service, and urges Highlanders around the country to give back to their communities. Current projects are taking place in Riverside, Newport Beach, San Diego, Las Vegas, and more.

“I’m looking forward to helping out the community and the people of Riverside as much as possible,” said Esa Hasan, a public policy student who is part of the event planning committee. “My biggest aspiration for this event would be to provide the people the maximum amount of goods possible for the community.”
