CARE Act Panel Podcast & Live Event

By Divya Bharadwaj |

In conjunction with The Presley Center of Crime & Justice Studies, the UCR School of Public Policy will host a roundtable discussion and live recording of a Policy Chats podcast episode on February 26 from 3pm to 4:30pm in HUB 269.

The discussion will feature experts on the Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment (or CARE) Act to discuss the intersection of mental health and criminal justice in California:

  • Judge Magdalena Cohen, Riverside Superior Court
  • Jennifer Bender, Riverside County Office of the Public Defender
  • Eric Stopher, Riverside County Office of County Counsel
  • Deborah Johnson, RUHS Behavioral Health
  • Dr. Stephanie Brooks Holliday, Pardee RAND Graduate School

“Traditionally, we speak with one policy expert, but I am looking forward to not only featuring multiple diverse perspectives on a policy topic, but also allowing them to engage with each other and the audience,” said Rachel Strausman, host of Policy Chats. “I also am so honored to be able to collaborate with our Robert Presley Center for Crime and Justice Studies - this podcast has been made possible by their dedicated efforts, and I am so grateful that they chose to collaborate with Policy Chats.”

Attendees can register for free for the event here: presley-care.eventbrite.com. For more information please contact spp@ucr.edu.
