California State Controller Betty Yee: A Career in Public Service

By Vivek Kakar |

On the latest episode of Policy Chats, California State Controller Betty Yee discusses her career in public service.

Yee was first elected into office as State Controller in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. In this role, she serves as the State of California’s chief fiscal officer. Prior to that, she served on the California Board of Equalization.

“It was great learning about her introduction to public service and her passion for advocacy to hearing about what she has achieved and is currently working on”, said Zeno Marganian, a second-year public policy student. “I was inspired and intrigued by her story”.

The episode with Betty Yee also delves into Yee’s personal journey, being a woman in the political world, and her advice for future policy leaders.
