Two Case Studies Conducted by Mark Hanin

Mark Hanin, an undergraduate public policy student and Director and Vice-Chair of the Student Voice Committee, recently conducted two case studies:

Classroom Etiquette and Academic Experiences

The first case study looked to understand the academic and inclusivity experiences of students at UCR and what changes students hope to see at the administrative level. Through the case study and the 20-question survey that preceded it, students were asked to evaluate how diverse UCR is from having a diverse array of classes offered to having a diverse staff in addition to offering insight on how their academic experience has been as a whole at UCR. The presentation slides of the first case study can be found here. Infographic available here.

Student Conversations and Group Chat Services

The second case study looked to understand the experiences of students with group chat services, how they benefit from them and whether they should be retained come this Fall, especially as students have so heavily relied on group chat services over the past academic year. Through the case study and the 38-question survey that preceded it, students were asked to evaluate how they rely on group chat services from the benefits they are able to gain from using such services all the way to addressing the impact of cheating on such services and how cheating as a whole should be addressed on the UCR campus. The presentation slides of the second case study can be found here. Infographic available here.
