In a three-year study led by the California Institute for Water Resources, Professor Kurt Schwabe will be representing the School of Public Policy, conducting research to evaluate the impact of Senate Bill 1157, which will lower the daily allowed gallons per capita for indoor residential water use from the current 47 gallons to 42 gallons in the year 2030.
Set to conclude in January of 2028, the study aims to provide valuable data to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) to help inform the long-term implementation of the state's "Making Conservation a Way of Life" legislation.
