The Center Stage
A spotlight on our research centers
The Inland Center for Sustainable Development is a research center dedicated to our region's interconnections between social well-being, the economy, and environmental sustainability. After a rebranding from the Center for Sustainable Suburban Development, the Inland Center for Sustainable Development launched in November 2019 with our inaugural stakeholder's meeting. The Center strives to coordinate sustainability efforts in the region, in addition to facilitating the exchange of information and policy recommendations to policymakers.
This year, we look forward to continuing our 2020 research focus on housing in Inland Southern California. As part of our yearly work program, we release:
- Our Podcast Series: The ICSD Podcast: a monthly podcast series highlighting our work - Available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts
- Our Issue Brief Series: In which, we profile and analyze the most important issues in our region including, housing and economic development
- Our Research: This year, our final report will study housing in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties and include discussions of housing construction, factors driving housing demand, and potential paths forward for our region
- Our Randall Lewis Seminar Series: This year, our seminar series will include sit downs with local community leaders to hear about their experience, and a wide range of sustainability and housing issues. Our first seminar, on January 15th, was a conversation with Rick Bishop and Ron Loveridge in which they discussed ICSD’s transition and 2020 focus.
As part of the Center’s transition, we welcome a new leadership team. Dr. Qingfang Wang, Professor of Public Policy and Rick Bishop the Executive Director of WRCOG join ICSD as Co-Directors. Ron Loveridge and Dave Willmon return as our Deputy Director and Assistant Director for Communications, respectively. Kristen Kopko joins the Center as our Public Policy Analyst.
