School of Public Policy Timeline
2004 — Planning for School of Public Policy begins.
April 2005 — Public Policy Initiative (PPI) introduced to the campus community at a campus-wide town hall meeting.
September 2006 — An undergraduate major and minor in public policy are offered by the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
February 2007 — The PPI receives a generous gift from Paul and Diane Garrett of the Better World Together Foundation to support the public policy seminar series.
November 2007 — UCR Academic Senate unanimously approves the proposal for a School of Public Policy.
May 2008 — The School is endorsed by the Academic Council and the UC Office of the President.
September 2008 — UC Board of Regents unanimously approve the establishment of a UCR School of Public Policy.
Fall 2010 — School of Public Policy Graduate Program will admit the first class of students.
2013–14 — West Campus Professional and Graduate Center slated to open. The facility will house the School of Public Policy and the Graduate School of Education.
