UCR's Public Policy Strengths

Drawing from UCR's research centers, institutes and distinguished faculty, the UCR School of Public Policy will offer students a rich variety of coursework and field experience in many different areas of public policy such as: environmental sciences, water, sustainable suburban development, biodiversity and species conservation, energy and transportation, poverty and economic development, agriculture and biotechnology, health, immigration, crime and justice studies, education, and media and cultural studies.

Diversity

With one of the most ethnically diverse student bodies in the nation, UCR is located in one of the most diverse regions of the state of California. UCR's School of Public Policy seeks to train future policy leaders who will emphasize cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique and diverse population of Inland Southern California, and who will partner with community stakeholders and solve some of the biggest challenges facing the region.

Location

The UCR School of Public Policy is located approximately 50 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, and is within easy driving distance of major cultural and recreational sites, as well as desert, mountain and coastal destinations.

  • Washington Monthly (August 2015) ranked UC Riverside 2nd in the nation in its annual University and College Survey.
  • Shanghai Jiao Tong University (August 2015) Academic Ranking of World Universities ranked UC Riverside among the top-150. This survey bills itself as "the most trustworthy precursor of global rankings of the world’s top 500 universities."
